Tigers may be done, already, with 2015 recruiting
By: Michael Burns, The Greenville News

With two weeks remaining until the 2014 season kicks off, after missing out on University of South Carolina commitment Zack Bailey, the Clemson football team has likely added the final piece to its offensive line recruiting for the 2015 signing class in Logan Ticsh, a 6-foot-3, 285-pound guard from Chapel Hill High School in North Carolina.

The question that remains is whether Tisch will be the final piece overall.

Unranked by ESPN or other recruiting services, Tisch accepted a preferred walk-on offer from the Tigers while visiting campus this week with his family, meaning he's guaranteed a spot on the team though he won't go on scholarship, at least initially.

His sister, Jocelyn, is a senior at Clemson.

"As time went by, going to the football camps the past couple of years, the campus has just kind of grown on me," Tisch said. "This past Tuesday when I was talking to coach (Dabo) Swinney about Clemson, it just felt right to me. They're saying I'll be playing at guard or center. They want me on the team. I'm going to have the exact same opportunities as the guys with scholarships."

Counting him and 2014 high school seniors slated to grayshirt or enroll in prep school and go on scholarship next year, Clemson now has 25 committed for 2015, a group ranked No. 2 in the nation by ESPN, behind only Alabama.

The Tigers could add up to two more but may not add any.

They pushed hard for Bailey, a four-star offensive tackle from Summerville, but ultimately lost out to the rival Gamecocks, who'd led for him before he visited Clemson for Swinney's camp in June and then the All In Cookout with coaches, players, prospects and families.

Four-star tackles Matt Burrell Jr. and Venzell Boulware seem headed elsewhere, too. Burrell (6-4, 305), a senior at Hylton High in Virginia, has leaned to Ohio State and did not return to Clemson for the Tigers' cookout after visiting for camp in June, and Boulware (6-4, 293), a senior at Creekside High in Georgia, has narrowed his focus to Tennessee and Ohio State.

Clemson's focus is centered on the defensive front, a priority Swinney has long cited for 2015 recruiting. The top prospects are five-star defensive tackle Tim Settle (6-3, 325) of Stonewall Jackson High in Virginia and four-star defensive lineman Albert Huggins (6-4, 280) of Orangeburg-Wilkinson High.

Tennessee, Penn State, Alabama and Virginia are Clemson's main competition for Settle, who named Clemson his leader earlier this summer. He plans to announce his intentions on Dec. 20.

Georgia, North Carolina, Florida State and Alabama are Clemson's main competition for Huggins, who's no longer seriously considering South Carolina. He said he knows there is limited room in Clemson's class because of scholarship limits, but "I am sure they can make room." He plans to enroll in college in January.

Commitments become binding with enrollment or signed and delivered National Letters of Intent, which can begin being delivered Feb. 4.

Four-star defensive lineman Darian Roseboro (6-4, 285) of Lincolnton High in North Carolina remains on Clemson's radar, too. Michigan, N.C. State and Alabama are his leading contenders.

Four-star defensive end Ricky DeBerry (6-2, 250) of St. Christopher's School in Virginia left Clemson off his recently trimmed list of Alabama, Virginia, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Penn State, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Ohio State.
