Title: Dabo's New Contract Extension
Post by: ClemsonTiger on January 19, 2014, 12:44:20 AM
Clemson rewarded head football coach Dabo Swinney for the team's recent success with an eight-year contract extension, which is eight years, $27.15 million, fully guaranteed if fired any time in the next three seasons.

The athletic department announced the new contract on its website after it was officially approved by the Clemson University Board of Trustees Compensation Committee. As per the Bleacher Report, Athletic director Dan Radakovich praised the 44-year-old coach, saying, "Dabo is one of the top coaches not only in the ACC but in the entire nation. His teams have succeeded on the field, in the classroom and in the community. We're excited to have him lead our program for a long time into the future."

I'm glad to see Dabo get the extension. I think that there are many more good things to come.

Here's the thing. The 8 year contract, by no means, means that Dabo will be locked in to being Clemson;s head coach for eight years no matter what. Clemson most likely set it up that they are able to go in a re-negotiate if he is doing good or bad. They could pay him more, or less depending on his performance, and they might go in and make is buyout more if he is doing good in case some other team may try and take him from Clemson. I am glad he is staying, but just stating that it is locked in for those 8 years.

I hope you are right. It would make sense so Clemson can protect their interest and reward him for doing good.
