QB Cole Stoudt suffers minor leg injury in Saturday scrimmage

Quarterback Cole Stoudt suffered a minor leg injury in Saturday's scrimmage, but he doesn't figure to miss much (if any) practice time as fall camp continues.

The Post and Courier learned Saturday afternoon a defensive lineman rolled up on Stoudt's leg while he was making a touchdown pass to tight end Jordan Leggett. Stoudt returned to action for four more series, then was removed during the team's goal-line and short-yardage situations.

Following the closed scrimmage at Memorial Stadium, running back C.J. Davidson told reporters Stoudt was indeed "banged up." Offensive coordinator Chad Morris said he wasn't aware of an injury (per the Greenville News,) and Stoudt did not meet with the media afterward.

The drive on which Stoudt was hurt lasted 13 plays for 70 yards with the first-team offense vs. the first-team defense. Later, Stoudt added another throwing score to tailback Zac Brooks, which ultimately matched freshman Deshaun Watson's pair of touchdown passes on the afternoon.

Wide receivers Germone Hopper and Kyrin Priester each caught scoring passes from Watson, and running back Wayne Gallman had the day's lone rushing touchdown. The Tigers' offense didn't commit a turnover.

Clemson will take Sunday off before returning to practice Monday. The next scrimmage simulation takes place Wednesday.
