Georgia Tech QB recruit Jaylend Ratliffe suffers head injury in ATV crash
By Earl Vaughan Jr. Scholastic sports editor, bleacherreport.com

Scotland High School quarterback Jaylend Ratliffe suffered a fractured skull in an ATV accident Tuesday and was flown by helicopter to Charlotte for further treatment.

A source close to Ratliffe's family said the Scotland standout, who has already committed to play for Georgia Tech next fall, is suffering from bleeding on the brain and will likely undergo surgery at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

Ratliffe and some other members of the Scotland football team were riding ATVs at an undetermined location in Laurinburg, the source said. Reportedly, the driver lost control of the vehicle he and Ratliffe were on and when the driver tried to correct, the ATV flipped and threw the riders off.

Ratliffe led Scotland to the state 4-A championship game least season, where Scotland lost 24-7 to Greensboro Dudley.

Ratliffe was chosen as The Fayetteville Observer's All-Cape Fear Region Player of the Year following the 2013 season.

I know GT is one of our rivals, but they are our ACC brothers. I hope he has a speedy recovery.
