McNamara No. 2 on SportsCenter's Top 10

Thomas McNamara, a 2013 Clemson graduate, scored his first goal for New York City FC Saturday afternoon in thrilling fashion. McNamara buried the equalizer in the upper right corner of the goal from 25 yards out against the Philadelphia Union.

McNamara’s strike made the rounds on social media, picking up coverage from the official SportsCenter Twitter and the Major League Soccer Twitter, among others. A full library of reactions is available below.

Tommy’s strike was the No. 2 play on Sunday morning’s SportsCenter Top 10, second only to American Pharoah’s Triple Crown-winning Belmont race. Good company!

Amadou Dia started again for Sporting KC in a 1-0 result vs. first place Seattle Sounders FC on Sunday. The match was Dia’s sixth start in 10 total matches.

Phanuel Kavita, a captain of last season’s ACC Tournament Championship team, started and played a full match for the Real Monarchs of Real Salt Lake. A goal in stoppage time earned the Monarchs a 2-2 draw.

Dane Richards continues to play integral part in the New York Red Bulls’ weekly lineup, subbing in and playing significant minutes in the second half against the Houston Dynamo on Saturday.

Manolo Sanchez started for the New York Red Bulls II against FC Montreal in a 2-2 draw on Saturday.

Chris Glodack again found himself on the bench for the Tampa Bay Rowdies this weekend in a 2-1 win vs. FC Edmonton. Another Clemson goalkeeping product, Hunter Gilstrap, was on the bench for the Carolina Railhawks in a 1-1 draw with Minnesota United FC.

Jack Metcalf and the Charlotte Independence continued the franchise’s inaugural season with a 1-2 loss to the Richmond Kickers.
